Like most of the contestants, Skipper too found love in fashion and design at a young age. His inspiration came from his grandmother. She would make beautiful clothes for him and his sisters.
He therefore started his career in fashion by making high school marching bands. To further his skills, he enrolled at Alcorn State. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Skipper gained the title of First Black man to graduate from Savannah College of Art and Design with an MFA .
He has a collecting called “Avant Oppidan: The Misrepresentation of Black Designers in the Fashion Industry.” The collection aims at telling the history and struggles of Black people and the scarcity of Black fashion designers in the United States. His creations were featured in Vogue Italia, Teen Vogue, Essence, WWD, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, France, and Hong Kong.
He also landed the opportunity to represent SCAD in a CFDA fashion future graduate. In addition, Zayden has worked with a couple of celebrities including; Tanya Sams, Tierra Wack, Paula Wallace, and Lori Harvey.
